14 year old boy apprehended by the police, accused of attempted rape and a string of indecent assaults

The police in Bergen have apprehended a 14 year old boy, believed to be responsible for one incident of attempted rape, and a string of indecent assaults in the city.

The serial attacker has been targeting women in Bergen for the last few days. He is accused of indecently assaulting ten different women. The victims have told the police that a young boy approached them from behind, and started touching their breasts and placing his hands on their crotch.

The most serious incident took place on Monday, when the boy followed a woman into her flat after having asked her for a glass of water. Inside the flat he tried to rip of her clothes. The woman managed to fend him off and eventually chase him out of the flat.

The police apprehended a 14 year old boy earlier to day, that they believe is responsible for the attacks. - It is very unusual to see people this young, involved in cases like this. As a matter of fact I can’t ever remember coming across a similar case, Carl Petter Leganger, head of the crime unit at the Bergen police station says.

The boy is a minor, and can’t be charged for the crimes.- He will be questioned later today. We have contacted social services, and it is up to them to decide what’s going to happen with the boy, Levanger tells VG Nett.
