PST (The Norwegian Intelligence Agency) has noticed an increase in right-wing extremism on the internet

The PST has detected a growing number of Norwegian blogs and internet sites which contains racist material.

The PST is continually monitoring extremist organizations in Norway, but they do not see a link between blogs and extreme right-wing organizations.

- As of today we haven’t come across such a link, spokesperson for the PST, Martin Berntsen says to Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.

A twenty five year old Norwegian male arrested in connection with the murder of a forty six year old Somali male in Trondheim, has according to local newspaper Adresseavisen posted several anti-immigration articles on various internet discussion forums, and this is why the police decided to involve the PST in the case. But at the moment they have not managed to find any obvious links between the accused twenty five year old male and any of the extreme right-wing organizations in Norway.

The internet has become a popular arena for people with extreme political views, but Berntsen doesn’t believe that the increase in internet activity will boost recruitment for any of the extreme right wing organizations in the country. Extreme right wing organizations haven’t been very active in Norway in the last couple of years, he says.
