The Norwegian Football Association has ordered the club to pay a fee of NOK 38 million by the end of September. If the club fails to comply with this order, Start FC will be declared bankrupt and could risk being relegated to the 2nd division.
The club called in the shareholders to an emergency meeting earlier today, but no solution was reached at this meeting.
- We will use the next couple of days to try and find a solution to this problem, Chairman of Start FC, Jan Oddvar Skisland, told local newspaper Fædrelandsvennen.
Manager and part-owner of Start FC, Erik Solér, will most likely leave the club, but he’s unwilling to make any comments on the issue.
- Are you sad to see the club like this?
- Yes of course I am. I had hoped that things would turn out differently, Solér told Fædrelandsvennen.
Oddvar Skisland is also refusing to confirm or deny rumours that Solér is about to leave the club. But he believes that a solution will be reached, and that the club will avoid bankruptcy.
